Keeping Whitened Teeth White

Smiling Man CloseThere are multiple ways to deal with extreme cosmetic dental flaws. Increasingly popular are porcelain veneers, which can cover up multiple dental issues all at once, including deep stains. However, for regular dulling and yellowing of your smile, teeth whitening is a very simple and fast way to bring life back to your smile. You have many whitening options, but the most reliable are professional methods provided by Dr. Brent Engelberg or another reliable cosmetic dentist. Once you have whitened your teeth you may want to consider taking a hiatus from your favorite morning beverages.

All Day Coffee Drinkers

If you’ve been to your corner chain coffeehouse lately, the evidence is there: we love our coffee in this day and age. There are so many ways to brew, flavor, and serve coffee drinks, there’s bound to be something to hook you. If not coffee, you might be a tea or soda drinker. Caffeine jolts throughout the day may make you feel like you have more energy to get through it all. But the vessel for administration of said caffeine, in the form of a darkly pigmented coffee, will cause stains. Furthermore, the tannins in coffee can scratch the surfaces of your teeth, damaging tooth enamel. Once the enamel is damaged, coffee has more opportunity to create obvious stains on your tooth enamel

Can’t Give up the Coffee?

Fortunately, you don’t necessarily have to say goodbye to coffee just because you opt for teeth whitening. You may want to cut back, or think of a different way of drinking coffee. For example, iced coffee allows you to enjoy your beverage with a straw, so newly brightened teeth in the front of your smile are protected. You could even consider drinking hot coffee through a straw allowing the warm liquid to stream straight past those pearly whites. No matter what, don’t forget to rinse your mouth with water immediately after consuming any staining beverage or food.
