Is your Breath Prepared for Anything?

Bad Breath GirlYou just never know when you might find yourself in a situation where your breath will make an important impression. Whether you’ve just started dating someone, you’re training for a new job (or training someone for your job) or you’re about to take a long plane flight, halitosis can make life miserable for those around you. If you want to make sure that you’re not offending anyone with your breath, there are some things you might want to keep on hand, in your purse, or in your carry on.

Travel Size

Go to any drugstore and you’re bound to find a section filled with small travel-sized versions of toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash amongst other toiletries. The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that you brush a minimum of twice a day, making sure to also floss daily. Keeping your travel sized kit with you at all times means you can order onion rings or garlic fries at lunch and still maintain fresh breath. Beware, however, that toothpaste, gum, and mints only mask food odors until they’re fully digested. So if you’re getting ready for a big date, you may still want to stick to a more breath friendly food choice.

Kissable Lips

Winter time is generally quite harsh on the average lips. If you have a tendency towards chapped, cracked, or dry lips, you may want to take some extra efforts to maintain a soft and supple pucker. Cracked, peeling, or bleeding lips can be soothed with a good lip moisturizer. You can also give yourself a better shot at avoiding chapping by drinking plenty of water. Just try not to lick your lips too frequently, however. Saliva will actually dry out your lips more.
