Can You Fix A Tooth In One Visit?

When a tooth becomes broken, or develops a serious oral health issue (such as a cavity or infection) then immediate treatment is necessary to avoid complications, such as premature tooth loss. Many patients assume that treatment will take multiple visits. However, we can fix a tooth in one visit with our restorative and cosmetic treatment options.

Frequently Asked Questions About Fixing Teeth in One Visit

Question: Can you create a crown in one sitting?

Answer: Yes! Using the CEREC system, CAD/CAM technology can be employed to design and create a restoration. We can then place the completed restoration in the same visit, returning the tooth to full function, health, and appearance. The complete crown will be made from porcelain, a strong and natural looking material. We can use the crowns to repair broken, chipped, or misshapen teeth.

Question: When do you recommend a filling?

Answer: We often suggest a filling when a patient develops a cavity. We can prepare the teeth and place the color-matched composite resin, cuing it with a light and then polishing the tooth. The entire procedure start-to-finish only takes a single visit. The tooth will look natural and no one but you and your dentist will now you have a filling.

Question: Can bonding and contouring restore smiles in one visit?

Answer: Yes! Bonding involves applying a composite resin to the teeth, restoring the lost tooth structure. We can shape the tooth as it cures under a light. We then complete the procedure with a thorough polishing. We can close gaps between teeth and repair minor damage. With contouring, we gently buff away tooth structure, which removes pits or grooves in the tooth’s surface and dulls overly pointed teeth.
