What Restoration Do You Need?

Our teeth are strong. In fact, the enamel coating them is the hardest substance in the human body. However, that doesn’t mean your teeth are immune to damage or decay. When problems arise, we correct them with dental restorations. What kind of restoration does your tooth need? What specific issues can they address?

Crown

A crown is a ceramic restoration that fits over the entire visible part of the tooth. We can use them to correct cracked or broken teeth. In addition, they can also help replace missing teeth by anchoring dental bridges in place or restoring single tooth dental implants. In the past, placement mean two to three visits. However, employing the CAD/CAM system known as CEREC, we can create and place a natural looking dental restoration in a single visit.

Filling

A filling is used to target cavities and repair teeth. Made from a metal-free composite resin, this material can be shaded to match the surrounding tooth structure and prevent further decay. We remove the decay and then place the material. The composite resin then cures under a special light. The dentist sculpts the material as it cures. Finally, we polish the tooth to ensure a more lifelike appearance.

Inlay

An inlay is a ceramic restoration, similar to a crown, but instead of covering the entire tooth, it targets the area in the surface between the cusps.

Onlay

While an inlay fits between the cusps, the onlay fits over them. We use inlays and onlays to target specific areas of the tooth that need restoration in cases where a filling isn’t enough and a crown would be too much. This allows us to preserve more of the patient’s natural tooth structure.
