Answers to FAQs about Teeth Whitening Options

FAQ BoardWould you be surprised to hear that teeth whitening is one of the most frequently-requested cosmetic procedures today? If you choose to whiten your teeth on your own (using an over-the-counter products) purchasing the right one might be challenging, if not impossible. Evanston cosmetic dentist, Dr. Brent Engelberg, will answer frequently asked questions about teeth whitening.

FAQs about Teeth Whitening

Q1. Are there over-the-counter whitening products that work well?

A1. While it’s true that there are many options for teeth whitening that you can purchase at just about any local grocery or drug store, you could very well be wasting your money with these products. The bleaching agents in many whitening kits are simply not strong enough to erase more than minor surface stains. Luckily, Dr. Engelberg offers two professional-strength teeth whitening options: at-home and in-office teeth whitening.

Q2. What is in-office teeth whitening?

A2. This is a great option if you have a big event or engagement coming soon which requires you to look your best. In just one visit, Dr. Engelberg applies dental grade bleaching gel which is exposed to a special curing light. Your smile can be brightened up to ten shades in only a couple of hours with this method.

Q3. What is at-home teeth whitening?

A3. Many of our patients prefer to whiten their smiles from the comfort of their own homes. At-home teeth whitening kits consist of custom-fitted trays designed so that the bleaching gel will be evenly exposed to your teeth. Your daily whitening treatment can take place any time that you want – while you exercise, eat dinner, sleep, or watch television. In as little as seven to ten days, your smile should be noticeably brighter and whiter.
